My intention is to help as many people as possible become familiar with the Tarot in order to develop their intuitive abilities. I believe if a person is not initially intimidated by the overwhelming amount of information associated with Tarot, they will be more likely to stick with it and become adept at reading the cards. Therefore, I urge them to NOT memorize any meanings in the beginning, unless they wish to do so. The meanings will emerge as personalized visualizations for each card during the learning process.

I prefer teaching weekly Tarot classes to a small group of students using my own method. Each class is a mini-workshop and does not require any previous knowledge of the cards. Every week we play different games using the Tarot cards and over time the intuitive process of interpreting the readings becomes second nature. A person can join the classes at any time and not feel he has missed anything, except a lot of fun! The tuition is kept low so more people can benefit.

Each session begins with a relaxation technique followed by everyone doing a reading for himself and then for another person. We use different layouts, making up our own as we go along. My favorite is the Cartoon Strip where we lay out the cards like the Sunday Funnies and make up a story to go with the pictures. The most amazing things happen during those sessions!

During each class I add information about the history of Tarot and the details of the deck. While playing the games we discuss the suits, relationships between the cards, reversals, etc. We deal with each detail as it comes up in a reading so it is "in context." For example, if the Death card comes up, we discuss possible meanings, and how it relates to other cards around it, and what it might mean if it were reversed, what a Major Arcana card is, etc. This way of learning the cards seems to stick with you much easier than if you try to memorize meanings from a book.

I bring in Tarot books and decks so people are inspired to try something new and to expand their knowledge. With this low-key approach, no one feels any pressure. You enjoy a pleasant evening with friends and learn a new skill at the same time. Contact Penny for current class info.
